Deck Waterproofing San Clemente
Sheathing on this deck is completed. After an inspection by the city inspector, we move on to installing copper flashing which is an important part of the waterproofing. After that, Desertcrete waterproof decking system is installed.

These residents can now access their home on a new and improved and safe deck. After removing the original sheathing I was surprised nobody fell through previously at this area.

Sister joisting is hard to do when the existing joist has deteriorated to literally nothing. Many challenges presented themselves on this particular project, but with additional time and a ton of patience, most any issue can be overcome.

Here is the new cantilevered end deck joist installed. We were able to leave some of the stucco on the deck itself. I'm of the belief that it was the wire in the stucco that was holding this deck in place as the floor joists were at about 20 percent strength due to the water damage incurred.

Here we begin the arduious job of replacing the end joist. This begins by removing the stucco. The end joist replacement demands extra care and caution as it holds the weight of the roof and wall above it. Extra shoring and hydraulic jacking must be performed with utmost accuracy and care as the slightest miscalculation could potentially cause a collapse of the structure.

While removing water damaged joists, the top plates of the walls were discovered to be damaged as well and additional demo ensued.
